Medicare Rebates
For further information, please view the Department of Health and Aged Care Fact Sheet.
Private Health Funds
If you have private health insurance that includes psychological counselling, you may be eligible for a partial rebate. Rebates from private health funds will vary, depending on the health fund and level of insurance cover. We recommend contacting your insurance provider for further information about your personal coverage and the rebates you are entitled to. Our clinic has HICAPS facilities and can process your claim at the conclusion of your session.
Self-Referrals
If you would prefer not to visit your GP to get a referral or are not eligible under Medicare, you can still make an appointment with your preferred practitioner. Please note that self-referred clients are required to pay the cost of their sessions at their own expense.
Chronic Disease Management Scheme
The Chronic Disease Management Scheme is a government initiative that assists people living with a chronic disease or complex medical illness. Medicare rebates are available for treatment from allied health professionals who are assisting in managing the illness. The scheme allows a person with a complex or chronic illness to claim a Medicare rebate for a total of five sessions. Before you can access allied health services under the Chronic Disease Management Scheme, your GP is required to prepare a management plan (GP Management Plan and Team Care Arrangements).
